Avalanche Probes
Your avalanche probe shouldn't just live in your pack, only to be used when things go wrong. Your probe is a tool that should be constantly put to work measuring snowpack depth, helping you dig pits, and even letting you fish your paracord out over the lip of an overhanging cornice. Since you'll be using it so much, it's worth investing in a snow probe that's easy to deploy, and that's an appropriate length for your local snowpack.
