If you’re after a helmet that has all of today’s essential features without the top-of-the-line price tag, the Smith Level MIPS Helmet will fit the bill beautifully. Think of it as a more affordable version of the higher end Vantage, with a simplified on-the-fly ventilation system. While you give up the ability to independently open front or rear vents, many of the Vantage’s most appealing features appear on the Level, from the sleek brimmed shell to the brain-protecting MIPS system. You also get Koroyd honeycomb technology, which places a crumple zone at the top of the head that absorbs impacts while improving ventilation. While this is neither the highest end nor the most affordable helmet in Smith’s lineup, when you consider the features it brings to the table, the Level’s value is hard to ignore.
