The Nucleo High II GTX is one of La Sportiva’s lighter hiking boots intended for fast-and-light treks, and it’s extremely versatile for year-round ascents thanks to GORE-TEX Surround. Unlike most waterproof, breathable membranes that only protect uppers, GORE-TEX Surround wraps around your entire foot including the bottom to keep your foot comfortably dry even if you step into a puddle. To make up for lost breathability, the boot uses drainage ports through the midsole and sole so you aren’t slogging around water after stepping into the puddle. GORE-TEX Surround ensures some of the best waterproof protection around while staying breathable enough for summer desert treks.
